Remodeling my Primary Bedroom.

On the first day that I moved into my house, I started mapping out what I needed to do and within the first 10 minutes of writing, my hands were already hurting. Ugly blonde kitchen cabinets, unsightly built-in bookshelves, mirrored closets and tons of illegally routed wiring thrown all about the property. My first idea was to start on the master bedroom and make it how I wanted it. The room was nicely proportioned with three windows and a walk in closet. It just needed some love.

From the jump—I knew this wall color wasn’t it.

Blue and shades of grey really aren’t in the Joshua Calvin brand. I immediately ran out to Lowes to pick up a shade that I originally thought would be in my room forever. Little did I know, this wouldn’t be the case.

This was not on the agenda.

If you were paying close attention to what I said above, I don’t really like greys or blues (you’ll just love my kitchen blog) and yet— somehow this is where we landed. Albeit, not for long. (Don’t worry I came to my senses!)

Change is good.

After living with the color for about five months, I decided that it was time to find a color that was more me and would fit with my style. I went with a deep black that often appears to mimic charcoal. The color is Broadway by Behr. As you can see Caleb & Murphy already appreciate the change.

my pockets started crying.

I installed board and batten and wrapped up painting. Almost immediately I took it upon myself to buy new items for the bedroom—and I do mean everything was replaced. The only things that made it out unscathed was my one year old mattress and the art Caleb bought for my birthday. New linen, new curtains, new rugs, new accents—and I did all of this consciously. I was so was ecstatic to see a deduction from my bank account simply because I knew I would soon have a package at the door. I am not well lol.

Here comes the sun, little darlin’

The master bedroom needed better light and for that to happen, two things needed to occur: Hardwiring a pair of beautiful sconces that I picked up at AllModern and removing the warped 90s ceiling fan. SHEESH! The fan was a peach to remove.

And here we are

Nowhere near where I want to see it but still incredibly beautiful.

I have tried to find and link every item that I could. :-)
